Solutions Engineer II

As a Solutions Engineer II at Green Mountain, you are the conduit between our clients’ data and the account management team. Your top priority is to build strong and trusting relationships with our customers and assist our Solutions Managers in providing and engineering best in class reporting, analytics, and advice to our clients with limited oversight. Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Math, MIS, or similar discipline
  • 2+ years of work experience with demonstrated competencies in SQL
  • Advanced knowledge of Green Mountain's systems, processes, and procedures and/or equivalent
  • RFP experience with a large shipper
  • Knowledge of transportation and supply chain systems / concepts
  • Understanding of Business Intelligence tools & data warehousing
  • Proficient practitioner of parcel reporting, cost center, package direction applications, RFPs, network modeling, analytics, and BI
  • Detailed understanding of parcel audits
  • Proficiency in Atlassian products (Confluence and Jira)
  • Fluent in spoken and written English

Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, data cleansing, data manipulation)
  • Innovative thinker with strong analytical problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to lead customer calls
  • Deep understanding of SQL queries and relational databases
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including the ability and confidence to communicate with customers
  • Exceptional organizational skills including attention to detail and ability to pivot quickly between topics/projects.
  • Must be self-motivated and outcome-oriented, particularly driven by timelines and quality (works with very limited supervision)
  • Ability to work with projects of different sizes, complexity, and SOWs
  • Mentoring Solutions Engineers at junior levels of experience
  • Understands and works within established Solutions Engineer standards (defined by Green Mountain or management); can work mostly independently and apply established standards
  • Ability to troubleshoot a range of problems, demonstrating an understanding of how one issue may be a part of a much larger system configuration and/or issue
  • Excels at critical thinking and root cause problem solving.
  • Ability to hear customer's verbiage, requirements, and problems, then articulate the Green Mountain solution for each
  • Ability to demonstrate mentoring skills and to support team members, peers, and colleagues to achieve targeted results
  • Dedication to customer satisfaction, problem-solving, and teamwork
  • Ability to analyze numerical data, verbal data, and all other sources of information.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity with work assignments.
  • Willingness to obtain mastery of Green Mountain applications and tools.

Experience

  • Experience designing and executing queries in a relational database (SQL preferred)
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • 2 or more years of work experience translating customer requirements into Green Mountain solutions and/or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience at leading without authority (without management title)

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Working with clients to understand their needs and develop Green Mountain solutions
  • Managing the portfolio of customer reports to include suggesting, creating, and deleting client reports to provide the customer with the best suite of reports that is maintained and up to date
  • Produce an RFP Model from baseline to final contract proposal
  • Model complex Carrier optimization opportunities with limited guidance
  • Lead project requirement meeting with a client thinking through all possible solutions and how it affects their overall network
  • Model advanced day definite networks with multiple carriers understanding carrier and service limitations
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of Green Mountain's processes, tables/views, and GDW
  • Ability to understand and research all production BI reports
  • Produce high quality analyses that have been fully vetted for errors and have project request forms completely filled out prior to manager review
  • Provide recommendations/feedback to peers on completed analyses and modeling
  • Research any data anomalies whether due to erratic shipping or potential issues with Green Mountain data
  • Understand Greem Mountain processes from inception to final reporting for both invoice and customer data
  • Help other engineers troubleshoot their code
  • Research delays in processing jobs and/or reporting schedules and partner with the processing team for improved customer experience
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with:
    • Pre-EA not setup and eliminate root causes
    • Production CCIs and eliminate root causes
    • Open items and recommend solutions for the customer/carrier resolution
  • Understand customer's network and how BI fields are defined and applied
  • Set up a new customer (or revise existing customer) with labeling in Cost Center table for non-allocation related data (facilities, etc.)
  • Lead new customer implementation setup using invoicing data (possible pitfalls, approach) without mentoring
  • Leverage Green Mountain knowledge to help identify the appropriate avenue for a customer request
  • Implement new order file or customer data, partnering with other Green Mountain team members, for fully documented, sustainable solution to the customer's requirements
  • Recommend the best solution for defining BI fields based on data and construct the update queries for BI revisions
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of Green Mountain's report screens, processes, tables/views and GDW
  • Consistently follow reporting standards and formats with minimal exceptions
  • Effectively document (and maintain) BI fields and revision requests on customer's Confluence page
  • Create new on-demand reports with appropriate masking and validations
  • Provide recommendations/feedback to peers during Reporting Standards Meetings to ensure best product to the customer
  • Implement business rules for a new customer without assistance from mentor and with minimal errors
  • Create an AP upload file based on customer's requirements with appropriate validations without errors or mentoring
  • Completion and maintenance of documentation for customers business rules in a readable format on SharePoint
  • Provide recommendations/feedback to peers during Allocation Meeting to ensure best product to the customer
  • Ability to implement Allocation on the Web (survey, validation, training of the customer, etc.)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with allocation rules not matching
  • Fill-in for solutions manager during weekly/monthly customer calls, including updating and sending of project trackers and PSM documents
  • Manage project status updates, proactively communicating to manager
  • Creating, maintaining, and timely completion of Jiras on all project requests at least daily, following up and guiding other SEs on your team on Jiras at risk of not hitting deadlines
  • Ensuring Jiras and Confluence Action Items are completed for yourself daily (as per due date provided)
